reggio-inspired

visionary education community - Reggio Emilia Inspired

Just embarking on a rather large essay on Loris Malaguzzi for my MA in Early Childhood Education. I have to do a biography aswell as a description of why I chose him as my historical pedogogical figure and how he is relevant in todays ECE!!

If anyone has an wonderful quotes about their own work and Loris relevance, aswell as those they know from is work I would be most appreciative.

The preschool I work at in sweden has just got started as a Reggio inspired school, and although I feel I have probably always had a Reggio philosophy at heart it is a whole different kettle of fish when we are all supposed to be at it, and not all quite get it yet!!

0any thanks in advance!!

Hi Suzanne,
I love your honesty! I don't quite get the Reggio either, but I am very clearly drawn to it.
My favourite quotes by Loris Malaguzzi are:
"Learning and teaching should not stand on opposite banks and just watch the river flow by; instead, they should embark together on a journey down the water. Through an active, reciprocal exchange, teaching can strengthen learning how to learn."
"Children construct their own intelligence. The adult must provide activities and context, but most of all must be able to listen. Children need proof that adults believe in them. Their three great desires are to be listened to, to understand, and to demonstrate that they are exactly what we expect."
Good luck with your studies,
