Hi Laura,
I'm happy to know we have a musician in our community. I am currently looking for a short bit of instrumental music to accompany the flight of a rocket ship in our Circus Train ballet. Any suggestions?

Profile Information

What inspires you about the Reggio Emilia Approach?
The value placed on process not product. How children are viewed as competant and capable. The community involvement with the school. The recognition of the environment being a teacher.
About Me:
I have been a Master Teacher at The Ohio University Child Development Center for the past 7 years. We are a Reggio inspired school that teaches to teacher candidates from the University and the children of families in Athens, Ohio area. I am also a registered music together instructor and director. I teach music to 35 families and their children ages birth through five. I have been a musician all my life and the Music Together Curriculum is the way in which I can do two of the things I love the most: being musical and working with children. I have my degree in Secondary Education: Social Studies. Because of this, NAEYC Accredidation recognizes me as an "assistant" teacher at our school. I am currently enrolled at Ohio University to earn my Associates in Child Development . I have learned about The Reggio Emilia Approach through the Reggio study group and reading about their schools. Through my job I was able to see the Hundred Languages exhibit at COSI in Columbus, Ohio. Most importantly, I have learned about the approach by observing my colleagues at work. I think that my connection with the Reggio Emilia Approach is very "Reggio" in that I am not a book learned Master Teacher in Early Childhood. I am in love with my job and families that I work with everyday. I reflect constantly on how I can become a better teacher and consider the individuality of all my students and families.
