This was just a large slab of wood that was attached to a fence outside. We would plop down trays of paint, brushes, and rollers and the children created murals over and over again. It was special when the children painted over a past work of art ...
Thanks! There is a jellyfish hanging from the ceiling. I used doubled up ziploc baggies and filled them with colored water. We only used them for one day but it was nice beacuse the kids could overlap them and mix the colors without mixing the liq...
Love the light studio. Are those jellyfish suspended in the middle. I like that you've created a darkened area. What keeps the yellow and red separate on the overhead?
Thanks for looking at my pictures Sara! I haven't heard of the kaleidoscope projector. I'll keep it in mind for next time I do the Light Exhibit. It was an amazing week. There just wasn't enought time for the children to explore each property of light. We definately could have easily had this a month long exhibit rather than a week. Thanks so much for your interest!
What inspires you about the Reggio Emilia Approach?
I am inspired by the reflective attitudes of the teachers, and the way the curriculum is organically unfolded based on what emerges from observing the children at play. I also believe in creating an environment that is enriching and child centered. I am very attracted to the kind of collaboration that takes place, between teachers, parents and the children. I am always looking to learn about new ways to respond to children that encourages and expands their knowledge and self-awareness...not to mention my own!
About Me:
I am a passionate advocate for play. I enjoy film, music, art, discussion, gardening and cooking. Oh....and thrift store shopping! I just got married in December and love to spend time with my family (that includes my kitty and dwarf bunny).
