What inspires you about the Reggio Emilia Approach?
Children learn best by doing. I’m inspired by the support the approach gives to a highly collaborative problem-solving approach to learning.
About Me:
I am a wife, an artist, and a teacher. I’ve taught a variety of grades, and enjoy the flexibility working with ages 4-6 to build project-based learning for young children. I'm trying to incorporate reggio philosophies into my classroom and educate my staff and center. I'm new to the approach, but have lots to learn!
I am currently looking into a masters program with reggio-inspired instruction (or at least classes). If you any info/suggestions let me know!
Hi Sarah,
I noticed a link to a textbook that looked interesting in Google books. Are you still looking for a grad program?

Light is a great material for children to explore. Will you start next year with an exploration of light? I think there is a skylight in my next classroom. That may make light work problematic. Hmmm.
Hi Sarah....your photos are so inspiring! I really love the blacklight! Have you heard of a kaleidoscope projector? There are some for sale on eBay, and they're a bit pricy, but really amazing.
These pictures were taken at a Reggio Conference in the St. Louis area this past weekend. The conference took place at a public school that is using the approach in it's preschool, kindergarten and first grades. It included a tour of the classrooms and atelier and was amazing! The shelves you are referring to are over a small sink and counter space. Yes, there were two mirrors hanging on the wall behind the counter. One of the things I was amazed about was that they ordered alot of thier furniture (tables, chairs, and shelves) from Pottery Barn. They said it was cheaper than ordering it from the school!supply catalog.
I don't have permission to include any photos from this year that might contain images of children. Since there are images of them all over the room, I'm not posting any from this year. Check out the listserv at

Why not talk to Carolyn Pope Edwards? She might be able to recommend places to study that could match the possibilities you've found for your husband. She's special, at least from her writing. Look at the Boulder Journey School, too.
Welcome, Sarah,
Your energy and enthusiasm come through crystal clear. What a great energy to add. I think Carolyn Pope Edwards is at Univ. of Nebraska, Lincoln. She's a real authority. I don't know how close you live to Lincoln, and the Ak-sar-ben, but it's worth looking at.
