Starting my 3rd year as a Reggio-inspired teacher of mainly 3 & 4 year-old children, so if you marked my beginning as point zero then I'm only really old enough now to be preschool-level at preschool teaching. I appreciate studying Reggio with people in all different phases--from just hearing about it to looking back over 20 years of research. Thanks to everyone sharing their experiences.

i am a teacher of toddlers, 18-36 months old, and am on the journey for the 2nd year. my first year didn't even touch the service of being reggio inspired, however read a few resource books and am learning through a hands way. For my second year, i am going to focus the year on a long term, school year length, study on "line and color". i am on the look out for new ideas for making a dynamic classroom environment with homemade activities such as a small light table. I would love feedback and ide…

I am looking for any networking groups in the Charleston, SC area? I have begun my journey and would love to dialogue with other interested schools or teachers. How do any of you who do not have other networking systems learn more about this approach? I have read numerous books, attended conferences and visited other schools but long to network with other Reggio inspired schools. Any suggestions?

In one word, RELATIONSHIPS!
Is it, engaged, respectful researchers, collaborating, while discovering in environments filled with comfort and beauty. A community, we individually work on and refine with the image of the child, and their potential, abilities and interests being the main focus of our observing, and documentation. A system with meaning and ownership of all involved earning value, as we build on prior knowledge constructed by each gift……….A Child!
My journey has me juggling regulat…

As some of you may already know, my thesis work has been focused on understanding the way in which teachers and administrators build and negotiate both individual and collective Reggio-Inspired identities. Right now I am in the process of analyzing the data that I have collected and beginning to think about the direction that my research has taken. With this in mind, I think it only fitting to open up the discussion to this community and get your views on what it means to be Reggio-Inspired, how…

In March, my co-teacher with whom I had been working for over two years, left us to start her own preschool. This sent us into the search for a new colleague. I'm pleased that we found Chandra Bocci to work with us. We didn't have to look far. She has been nannying for a family that used to go to our full-day program. The children in this family ended up going to the same charter school as my daughter, so I'd bump into Chandra at the school from time to time. When I saw her there one day in Marc…

I joined Ning last night and then tweaked my profile this morning, a first time explorer of such an on-line tool. I'll be curious to watch and see how it works.
Some wonderful Reggio-inspired folks from around the Twin Cities are working to re-create and re-energize the Minnesota Reggio Network. One question we're exploring is how to give broad visibility to Reggio-inspired work in Minnesota and nearby - looking to find ways to share our experiences with educators, parents and community leaders…

"The teacher is not removed from her role as an adult, but instead revises it in an attempt to become co-creator, rather than a transmitter, of knowledge and culture. As teachers, we have to carry out this role in the full awareness of our vulnerability, and this means accepting doubts and mistakes as well as allowing for surprise and curiosity, all of which are necessary for true acts of knowledge and creation. This requires a 'powerful' teacher, the only kind of teacher suitable for our equall…

I recently found this quote and would like to share it with everyone. When I read this for the first time, these words truly caused me to pause, reflect and consider my way of being with children. Malaguzzi's wisdom here should speak to all of us regarding the image of the child and the issue of time!
"One has to respect the time of maturation; of development; of the tools of doing and understanding; of the full, slow, extravagant, lucid and ever-changing emergence of children's capacities, it…
